Cooksville Lutheran Church Fall Festival 12 Sept 2010

Members of the Cooksville Lutheran Church are busy preparing for their 15th annual Fall Festival on 12 September 2010. Many of the most popular activities will be repeated with some new & exciting additions.

Sunday school will resume at 9:00 AM. Members and guests are invited to attend church service with communion at 9:30 AM. Lunch begins at 11:30 AM. The event will take place rain or shine. If it is raining, activities will take place in the newly completed addition. All facilities are air conditioned and handicapped accessible.

The grounds will open at 11:00 AM for viewing and shopping: Flower Market with gigantic mums for sale; used books at the Book Nook; children’s games and activities; Farmer’s Market with fresh produce, canned items, jams, and jellies; Cooksville Crafters with a variety of handmade items; a Silent Auction; Tent Sale; and more! The Bake Shop is a special stop for many customers with its lefse, cookies, bars, bread, donuts, and pies, both fresh baked and frozen take and bake.

Music performances by the Oak Park Band will be offered throughout the day in the air-conditioned sanctuary.

Lunch will be served from 11:30 AM until about 2:30 PM. The menu will consist of many home cooked items: pork sandwiches, bar-b-que sandwiches, baked potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, homemade pies (our specialty) and ice cream, coffee and lemonade. Carry-outs may be purchased.

Participants will be able to tour the historic village in a horse drawn wagon pulled by a team of Belgian horses. Larry Reed, the unofficial town historian, will point out historic and architecturally significant sites of the village, platted in 1842, which is on the national Register of Historic Places.

Raffle tickets are available for purchase from church members, at the Cooksville General Store, and during Fall Festival. The raffle drawings will be held at 3:00 PM. Winners do not need to be present to win. Raffle items include several handcrafted quilts. Helen Schneeberger, who has made and donated several quilts over the years to the Fall Festival, will be donating another quilt this year. Many other raffle items are donated by local businesses and church members.

The village of Cooksville is located in northern Rock County, six miles south of Stoughton, seven miles north east of Evansville, and eight miles west of Edgerton, at the intersection of State Road 59, Tolles Road and State Road 138. The mailing address for the church is 11927 W. Church Street, Evansville, WI., but the Church is located in the village of Cooksville.
